On March 12, 2005, I was doing volunteer cleanup along a highway.
Elmer is a kitten that I found in a plasticWalmart shopping bag tossed in a cold, wet ditch.
He was inside it with four other of his siblings, but he was the only one who survived.
Elmer is a survivor, that's for sure. I bought some whole milk and fed it to him with an eye dropper.
Now Elmer seems pretty healthy, although he is still really small. This picture shows him in a greenhouse here on NDSU campus. Right now, Elmer is a secret. I am not allowed to have pets in my dorm room. I ask that none of you try to contact NDSU officials about Elmer, for his sake. The problem is that Elmer is not likely to grow up to be the strong cat that he could be. You see, on July 23, 2005 I will have to shoot Elmer. I have selected a 8mm Turkish Mauser with which to do this horrible deed. That is a very large caliber bullet, but I want to do a clean job of it. I don't really really want to kill Elmer, I'm quite fond of how he tries to climb onto my desk and lick me when I am doing homework, but I will shoot him...
UNLESS....
If I were to get enough money, I think about $1,200, I would deliver Elmer to a new owner in the United States. The money is to defray the costs of transportation (gas is $2.30 per gallon right now) and lodging while I road trip with Elmer to the home of his new owner.
I really want to let Elmer live, but if I don't raise $1,200 by July 23rd, I will have to take Elmer out into a tree row somewhere and put a cap in him. It won't be pretty, most of Elmer will probably explode upon being shot. What a bloody mess!
I don't expect one person to be able to provide all $1,200. Instead, I will accept donations to this Paypal account and assign points to those who donate. The person with the most points by July 23, 2005 will be able to tell me who Elmer should go to. I will deliver him to any of the contiguous 48 states in the U.S.
